Who does not know tortilla? This food originates for Mexico. It is called tortilla because of the derivation from Spanish small torta which means small cake. Tortilla is very thin and made of wheat flour. The original one is made of corn flour or maize flour namely corn tortilla. Their textures are different. Corn tortilla is thick and fragile, while wheat tortilla is thinner. Since wheat tortilla is made of wheat, the texture is tougher since it contains gluten.
Tortilla is usually made for other foods like tacos and burritos. It is also good to be eaten right away. Usually it is eaten together with salsa. Salsa is usually made of tomato, onion, and jalapeno chilli pepper. The ingredients are diced and mixed together in a bowl. Then add lime juice, salt, and pepper to add the taste. How to make Fruitilicious Fruit Salsa with Baked Cinnamon Tortilla Chips
There are many kinds of recipe to make fruit salsa. You can choose whatever you like. And one of my favorite is this recipe. Take notes of the ingredients:
- 2 medium-sized granny smith apples, chop first
- 1 cup of fresh strawberry, dice first
- 3 medium-sized kiwi, peel the skin and dice
- 1 small orange, peel the skin and dice
- ½ cup of pineapple
- 1 cup of canned peach, dice
- 3 tablespoons of butter or margarine, melt them first
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- ½ tablespoons of ground cinnamon
- 6 tortillas, choose tortilla with size 8 to 10 inches
After you dice all fruits you have, put them in a bowl. Then mix them together. Wrap the bowl and put it in a refrigerator to chill it. Keep it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to make it colder.
Heat the oven first to bake the tortilla. Prepare a large baking sheet. Spread margarine on the surface of the sheet to prevent the tortilla from sticking on the pan. You can also spread cooking oil sprayer on the sheet. Put it aside. Then slice all tortilla into 8 slices. Arrange them on the baking sheet.
Melt butter or margarine. Use it to spread the surface of the tortilla. Before that mix sugar and cinnamon powder. After you spread the butter or margarine, sprinkle sugar and cinnamon powder mix. Bake them for 5 to 7 minutes. When they are cooked, remove them from the oven. Let it cool
There is also another alternatives to heat the tortilla. Some fry it in oil until the color changes into golden brown. Then rinse them from oil by putting the fried tortilla on a paper towel to absorb the oil. There is also another way to sprinkle the sugar and cinnamon mix. You can put the sugar and cinnamon in a bag, and put the tortilla inside the bag. Shake the bag until all tortillas are coated with sugar and cinnamon powder.
